Technology Enhance Active Learning (TEAL)

"The Technology Enhanced Active Learning room brings a dedicated space designed to enable groups to work together on problems in a really good environment in a restructured way, it is going to need tutors to rethink the way they are teaching and designing their unit but you can definitely have a different dynamic of engaging the students in the material within the TEAL room."

There are various benefit to using this specialist learning space.

  • Collaborative learning - students working during class in small groups with shared laptop computers.
  • Knowledge sharing - Personal response systems that stimulate interaction between students and lecturers.
  • Coaching - Lecturers can act as coaches guiding and discussing with each groups about relevant ideas.
  • Leadership - Lecturers gives a different member of the group an opportunity to lead each week and this student is responsible for presenting the findings to set problems.

It is necessary for academics to sort through information and resources before engaging with the TEAL room. The BaL Digital team can provide you with training, on how to use it and also help to tailor and redesign your Moodle units for getting the best learning experiences out of the TEAL room.

Classroom step up

A member of the BaL Digital team will be available for 5-10mins, in the first two sessions to assist in the creating and adding of students and lecturers to an online cloud platform within Google drive folder.  G-drive allows students to work simultaneously with each other using the team screen. Teams will need to initially set up their google drives before working.
